Our Vision
The Kukhoma Project exists for God’s glory to rescue teen mothers who have been victims of abuse, to restore, equip and empower these girls and their communities. Our vision is to create a replicable, effective model for others to take and reproduce all across the globe.
For years, we have rented facilities here in Lusaka, Zambia and built a proven program for girls and their babies. Now, we are ready for more.
We have designed three facilities with our girls and programs in mind: TKP head offices, on-site manager housing, and our new TKP safehouse.
The TKP Safehouse
Maternity Home and Safehouse
Our new residential facility will give us stability and consistency—and it has been designed with our girls and babies in mind. Our new home will be a place of peace, welcome, and safety, featuring four bedrooms for girls and babies, plus a house mother bedroom, large communal spaces, laundry and cooking facilities, nursery space, a therapy room, and more.
THE OFFICE BLOCK
TKP Head Offices and Guest Flats
Positioned on a completely separate part of the property from the TKP house, the two-story TKP head office will serve several purposes. The first floor will consist of dedicated offices and workspaces for the TKP team and the second floor will have two private apartments to comfortably host guests and visitors for short- and long-term stays.
The Manager House
On-Site Staff Housing
Because our program provides around-the-clock care to our girls and babies, we need staff on-site at all hours. The staff house will serve as a home residence for one of TKP’s managers. Located on the opposite side of the property, the staff house will allow for immediate response when needed, but will maintain enough separation from the girls' residence to allow for personal boundaries.
The Agriculture Program
Empowerment For Girls and Families
We are excited to expand our proven agricultural program on our newly-owned property, with an increased ability to protect and manage our own land. With significantly more space to farm, and with local supermarket partners already established by our team, our agricultural empowerment program will flourish and grow at our new site, as will our ability to better empower our girls and families.
Project Costs
As we move toward being shovel-ready, we have carefully considered the building costs for the TKP house, staff office, and on-site staff housing; landscaping, moving, and legal costs; and the loss of operational donations as people extend themselves for this project.
We estimate the building costs to be $600,000, and we secured our 5-acre property in November 2022 for $175,000, paid in full. We have, therefore, realistically set our goal for this entire project at $775,000.
