Easter Reflections: Hallelujah is our song
Recently, I’ve found myself reflecting on a message from Pope John Paul II:
“We do not pretend that life is all beauty. We are aware of darkness and sin, of poverty and pain…but do not abandon yourselves to despair. We are the Easter people and hallelujah is our song!”
At The Kukhoma Project, we bear witness to so much pain. So much brokenness. Each and every day, as we welcome girls who have walked through unimaginable trauma into our home and our hearts, we are fully aware of the darkness, sin, poverty, and pain of the world.
But these realities do not define us. Instead, we are shaped by restoration. Renewal. Hope. We do not abandon ourselves to despair—we believe in hurts being healed and lives being made new.
After all, we are the Easter people. Hallelujah is our song.
This Easter, my prayer for all of us is that we live in the truth of the resurrection. That despite the pain and brokenness that surrounds us, we choose hope. That even when the world is pressing down from all sides, we sing hallelujah.
From all of us at The Kukhoma Project, Happy Easter. We are so grateful for you.
With hope,
Amanda Switzer
